CBACS' Riot Response: 'New Human' Education Initiative
I have felt very frustrated by the passing of Smiley Culture and the way in which it happened and now the passing of Mark Duggan and the riots, looting and vandalism that has ensued because of a similar sense of frustration and helplessness on the part of our young people.




What can I do?  I ask myself.  What should I be doing?   What social forces are inhibiting me?

Having listened to all the analyses occurring on facebook, the news and other media as well as the reactive response of government to the 'criminality' and the justice to be immediately meted out I have decided to do what I am competent at doing - passing on the knowledge I have gained as well as the process of gaining that knowledge to members of the established black Caribbean community in Britain.  In doing this I am facilitating UNDERSTANDING and WISDOM and so the ability of members of this group to create meaningful and generative lives for ourselves and our young people as well as learning how to more effectively engage with the wider society and its institutions. 

Our children's failures are our failures and we cannot allow them to be punished for our failures ...

I am kick-starting the process of sharing what I know through CBACS' 'New Human' education initiative and need your support ...
