At the commencement of this project was a single idea that, as young British African-Caribbean (BAC) people, we need to individualise and vocalise ourselves if we are ever to be more than history’s forgotten people. Every time we open the newspaper there is more talk of gun crime, educational underachievement, mental health problems and general disenfranchisement amongst this community. It begins to get even the most positive amongst us down when there only ever seems to be negative press about you!

What would get to us the most about this all however was not the fact that these things were going on, but that there were no positive stories to counterbalance them. Sure there are criminal elements, sure there are those who don’t get on well at school, but what about the tonnes of us who aren’t in gangs and love to learn? What about the successful people enjoying their jobs and lives?
