Defining CBACS' Purpose

Yesterday I said that CBACS had made a breakthrough! In these next few blogs I will bring the different parts of the jigsaw together to reveal our purpose as a group and the contribution we have to make to Africa, the Caribbean, Britain and the world in general:

C L R James reminds us

The black man or woman who is born here and grows up here has something special to contribute to western civilisations. He or she will participate in it, see it from birth, but will never be quite completely in it. What such persons have to say, therefore, will give a new vision, a deeper and stronger insight into both western civilisation and the black people in it.

Double Consciouness

I completely agree - it reminds me of what W.E.B Du Bois expressed about experiencing a double consciousness 'two-ness' in society. "..the Negro is a sort of seventh son, born with a veil, and gifted with second-sight in this American world.
